Texas Maps

• 7.5 minute USGS topographic maps--inventory of TTU collection (this is a large file). We also have the New Mexico 7.5 minute maps indexed as well.
• 15 and 30 minute USGS topographic maps--inventory of TTU collection. We also have the New Mexico 15 and 30 minute maps indexed as well.
• 1:50,000 scale topographic maps of Texas produced by the Defense Mapping Agency (now called the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency)
  Smaller scales (larger areas) are here as well: the 1:100,000 scale, 1:250,000 scale, etc.
• Sanborn Maps of Texas, (call nos. F701 .F7 1996 and F391 .F57 1992), are housed in the Government Documents Rare Book Room. These are in microfilm format. The online versions have returned! TTU students and faculty can access these directly at this link.
• General soil maps of Texas counties (incomplete coverage) are against the east wall in alphabetical order.
• DeLorme 3-D Topoquads of Texas (as well as New Mexico, Oklahoma and Colorado).
• Antique Maps of Texas and Indian Territory, 1834-1950. CD ROM containing over 160 maps.
• The TTU Department of Geosciences maintains a Library and Map Depository in the Geoscience Reading Room. (806) 742-3200, Rm #126, Science Building.

Texas Resources in the Government Documents Collection

• County soil surveys of Texas (recent) are shelved separately at the very start of Government Documents and are in alphabetical order. Older surveys are filed seperately--please ask for assistance at the Gov Docs reference desk. A small selection are available online from the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service.
• FEMA Flood Insurance Maps/Studies are both in paper and microfiche formats. Filed under HH (for olderstudies, in paper format, and in no geographical order) and FEM for newer studies. The FEM call numbers contain both paper and/or microfiche format. For both paper andmicrofiche formats, search the call numbers FEM 1.209:480004 through 485518. For the most recent studies, which are in only microfiche format, search the call numbers FEM 1.209/43: 480002 through 485508. Online information about these maps, as well as copies of the maps themselves, may be found here: FEMA Maps.
• Census maps are filed under the call number C 3.62/2: T35 (name of county or city or place) and housed in drawers separate from the main map collection.
