  • Infonation Country information from the United Nations.
  • Background Notes from the U.S State Department: Old website; New website. Published versions are in the Gov Docs collection and are filed under S 1.123:
  • Country Briefings from Economist.com, the online version of The Economist.
  • Country Reports, by Emulate Me. This website borrows heavily from the CIA World Factbook.
  • Foreign Governments. From the University of Michigan, this site is a portal to dozens of sites of background information on countries.
  • International Database (population statistics) from the U.S. Census Bureau.
  • Governments on the WWW. Links to official government webpages, their branches and offices, states/provinces and other subdivisions, political parties, etc.
  • Altapedia. Countries of the world: maps and reference.
  • NationMaster.com. Much of this data is based on the CIA World Factbook but is organized so that country comparisons can be made.
  • Flags of the World. About as many flags as you could imagine. Flag histories, meanings, symbology, etc.
