What types of spatial data sources are available in the Reference Room?

A list of spatial data sources is available on the internet web page http://library.ttu.edu/ul/maps/spatial_data.php

How do I use the software at the GIS stations?

Step-by-step instructions on using the different software at the GIS stations are available in the binder located at the Information Services Desk.

Who can use the GIS stations and what is the procedure for using the stations?

Access to the stations is available for graduate and undergraduate students, staff, faculty and others involved in GIS and related research or projects. Patrons need to contact staff members either at the Information Services or Reference Desk.

Can I reserve the stations in advance?

The GIS computers are on a first come first serve basis.  The computers are part of the lab though priority for the use of the computers goes to people who need to utilize the GIS software.

Can I download or install software on the GIS computer for my project?

At this time there is a restriction to the software that can be installed on the computers in the computer lab.  It is unlikely that any software will be able to be installed.

I'm experiencing a technical problem with the software and/or hardware.  What should I do?

Please do not attempt to troubleshoot these problems on your own. Contact the Engineering Librarian (2-2236x266) or Library IT Help desk (2-2220) immediately.

How do I get GIS software?

As TTU has an ESRI site license, current student, faculty or staff affiliated with Texas Tech University can load the software onto any Texas Tech owned computers. To get any of the ESRI products, please contact Raymond Espinoza in the ATLChttp://www.depts.ttu.edu/itts/software/esri/
