Stack Levels 1-5
The five floors of stacks are located in the west wing of the University Library. They contain books and older volumes of journals that are bound. To save energy and dollars, the florescent lights that run between the book shelves on stacks 1 through 4 are on 30 minute timers. The overhead lights along the main aisles of the stack remain on at all times. For directions on what to do when the timed lights go out, read the signs located in the west elevators and in the stack areas. |
Books are grouped by subject and arranged on the shelf by call number. You may use either the west stairs or the west elevators to access the stacks. If an item you are looking for is not on its shelf, check the sorting area. Sorting areas, located near the elevators, are available on all stack levels. There are quiet study areas on each floor, including open carrels and tables on some of the floors. Graduate students and faculty members may reserve their ownindividual study carrelsdepending on availability. These carrels may be reserved at the Circulation/Reserve desk. |
