APA Style Guides
This site provides a useful collection of links to various abbreviated and condensed versions of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. The links are arranged alphabetically by titles and some are annotated. For information about citing electronic resources, you may want to refer to the APA Style Guide to Electronic References, which is available in hard copy at the reference and reserve desks in the library.
APA Style Tutorial
This is a brief animated tutorial produced by the Harvard Graduate School of Education entitled "APA Exposed: Everything You Always Wanted to Know About APA Format but Were Afraid to Ask." It consists of 37 slides that cover the reasons for using APA format, the basic APA formatting requirements, the author-date method, and the requirements for citing references using the APA format. This is an easy way to get a quick overview of APA style.
Conferences
Conference Alerts has created a list of conferences and congresses in psychology that is international in scope. The site lists dozens of events in chronological order and includes start and end dates, conference title, location, and a link to the conference web site. Some conferences are listed up to five years in advance.
Departments
This site provides links to psychology department websites from around the world It can be searched by country and within the U.S. by state. There is a separate list of countries that only have one or two psychology departments. Most of the departmental home pages are in English but a few are in other languages. This site also allows searchers to conduct a Google site search.
Institutes
For those seeking a listing of institutes in psychology and the behavioral sciences, this site can serve as a starting point. It provides a list of research institutes that are arranged alphabetically by title. Each entry is annotated, and links are provided to the institute websites. The URL of the institute is given along with the date that the entry was added.
International Organizations
The Office of International Affairs of the American Psychological Association has assembled a list of international associations related to the field of psychology. The entries are arranged alphabetically by title, and include the name of the current president, address, phone, fax, and website URL. An alphabetical index allows the searcher to jump to entries beginning with a particular letter.
Journals
Psycline provides access to over 2,000 psychology and social science journals on the web. It gives you access to journal home pages that contain information about the journals. You can browse tables of contents and article abstracts and in some cases locate the actual full text of articles. You can search by subfields within psychology, or limit your search to articles, abstracts, or tables of contents. The index is international in scope and includes German, French, Dutch, and Spanish language journals.
