Guides and Calculators
Structural Engineering Calculators
These calculators are not intended to be used for the design of actual structures, but rather for schematic (preliminary) understanding of structural design principals.
Engineering Research Guides
Engineering Research Guides points to useful indexes to journals and conferences, technical reports and societies listed by engineering field. The focus is on Cornell University Library subscriptions.
Online Education: Comprehensive Guide to Engineering Resources
Engineering is the innovative art of combining math and science to design, develop structures, processes and materials to solve problems. It is a broad field the entails several sub-disciplines. These disciplines focus on specific breadths of concentration and scopes of technology. These diverse areas relate to various branches of engineering. As technology advances so do new fields of engineering. New engineering branches are achieving prominence and overlap with the main categories of engineering. As sub fields grow so do the requirements of education and licensing. A bachelor’s degree in an accredited engineering program is the basic requirement for potential engineers. Many states require testing of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam and the Professional Engineering Exam to gain license.
Professional Organizations
ASTM - American Society for Testing and Materials
ASTM International is one of the largest voluntary standards development organizations in the world--a trusted source for technical standards for materials, products, systems and services. Known for their high technical quality and market relevancy, ASTM International standards have an important role in the information infrastructure that guides design, manufacturing and trade in the global economy.
Directories
Engineering College Profiles and Statistics
This directory provides detailed profiles of U.S. and Canadian schools offering undergraduate and graduate engineering as well as engineering technology programs with the intent of preparing prospective students for their future education in engineering. The descriptions of institutions represented in this directory allow students to compare schools using a range of characteristics from location and degrees offered to student appointments and research expenditures. Information was furnished by institutions that responded to ASEE's annual survey.
IQS Directory - Industrial Quick Search - Manufacturer Directory
Find leading industrial manufacturers, suppliers, and distributors by industry. IQS is comprised of product/service specific vertical Website directories representing American industrial manufacturers using a patented methodology (Patent #7,483,872) supported by 2 pending patent applications. Our roll-over preview ad system allows buyers to quickly and efficiently evaluate potential vendors by being able to compare these suppliers in detail and provides these buyers the information to send a request for quote, call or link to the company’s Website including specific pages to view CAD drawings, PDFs, catalogs, sales reps and distributor locations, videos, e-commerce, equipment and other capabilities, certifications and press releases
Yahoo! - Engineering Ethics
