National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE)
The National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) is the profession’s mechanism to help establish high quality teacher preparation. Through the process of professional accreditation of schools, colleges and departments of education, NCATE works to make a difference in the quality of teaching and teacher preparation today, tomorrow and for the next century. NCATE’s performance-based system of accreditation fosters competent classroom teachers and other educators who work to improve the education of all P-12 students. NCATE believes every student deserves a caring, competent and highly qualified teacher.

America Reads is a nationwide literacy project aimed at teaching the majority of children to read well and independently by the end of third grade. Through America Reads, more than 350 tutors from the University are placed in Minneapolis and St. Paul schools each year.

Canadian Review of Materials (CM)
CM is an electronic reviewing journal. We review books, video and audio tapes, and CD-ROMs produced for young people. We also publish news, feature articles, interviews, and Web reviews. This publication is designed for Kids, parents, teachers, librarians, and professionals working with young people.
The Looking Glass
The Looking Glass: New Perspectives on Children's Books is an electronic journal about children's literature. The site was launched April 2, 1997 -- International Children's Book Day. This publication combines an interest in the traditional with an eye to the modern. The readers and contributors are academics, librarians, teachers, parents and anyone else fascinated by the world of children's literature both in Canada and abroad.
