Off-Campus Access Frequently Asked Questions

  1. I’m a TTU faculty, student or staff member and I’m having problems accessing the Libraries databases, electronic journals and electronic books (e-resources) from off campus.

We recommend that you set up TTUnet VPN to use with the Libraries e-resources when you’re off campus. To use TTUnet VPN with our e-resources, just connect to VPN before you begin using any of our e-resources. When connected with VPN your access will be as if you were working from inside the Library so you will not be prompted to log in with e-Raider.

For step by step instructions go to TTUnet VPN.

Please note: for Windows users there is a specific setting to check when using VPN to access the Library’s resources, this is noted in the instructions (step 16 for Windows Vista and step 15 for Windows XP).

  2. I am a TTU HSC faculty, student or staff member and cannot access the University Libraries e-resources from off campus.

Due to licensing restrictions you will not be able to access the University Libraries e-resources unless you are on the general / main campus. We recommend that you contact the HSC library as they have many of the same resources available for their faculty, students and staff. You are also welcome to come into the University Libraries and use our e-resources.
FAQs below are for those users that do not use VPN

  1. I’m having problems logging into the Libraries e-resources with my eRaider username and password.

Make sure that your browser is set to accept cookies. If it is not, your computer will not be able to “remember” that you’ve logged in with your eRaider username and password and it will ask you repeatedly to log in.

If you have your browser’s cookies set correctly and you’ve already logged into eRaider and haven’t yet closed your browser then you should not be prompted again for your eRaider username and password.

Closing all browser windows ends your eRaider session so you’ll need to log in again to access our e-resources.
  1. When I use Find-it-Fast for searching or to find databases it only searches a few e-resources, like the online catalog but not much else. How can I access the rest of the Libraries e-resources?

The Libraries’ Find-It-Fast system requires that you log in, just like any of our other e-resources. Even if you are already logged into eRaider, Find-It-Fast may not recognize this. You can log in using the “Off-campus users log in here” link on the right-hand side of the Find-It-Fast header. If you think Find-It-Fast isn’t giving you access to the full range of our e-resources, then click that link, log in and try your search again. You should get better results.

Please note: for Windows users there is a specific setting to check when using VPN to access the Library’s resources, this is noted in the instructions (step 16 for Windows Vista and step 15 for Windows XP).

  1. When I use the Articles search box or Databases A-Z/e-Journals A-Z links on the Libraries homepage, I get almost no results.

On the homepage, the "Articles" search box, as well as, the "Databases A-Z" and "e-Journals A-Z" links use Find-It-Fast so you will need to login. To do this click the "off-campus login" located on the right hand side of the page under the "My Account/Library Card" section or use VPN.
