Coach Knight Contributes More Than Money to the LibrariesCoach Bob Knight and his wife, Karen, have once again demonstrated their love for books and dedication to education with their latest donation to the Texas Tech University Libraries. The couple recently donated more than 700 books from their personal library, to the libraries of Texas Tech. Library personnel are pleased with the donation and are working steadily to process and catalog the books. An electronic bookplate will identify each of the books as a gift book from the Knights. Ranging in content from Mark Twain to Martha Stewart, millionaires to midwives, and military heroes to musicians, this donation of books includes a wealth of information for scholars, students and the recreational reader. The versatile interests of the Knight family are reflected in the variety of titles by a vast array of authors. The largest category of books pertains to American history. More than 200 books focus on the topics of war history, Other titles will be added to the University Library’s recreational reading collection. These include books on the art of fly-fishing and other outdoor activities. In addition, the donated collection includes several how-to books on the subjects of landscaping, health and fitness, and cooking. And a number of titles were also donated in the areas of religion and faith, philosophy, business management and positive thinking. In addition to books, the donation also included several periodicals and 25 miscellaneous items such as an audio cassette collection of “Old Time Radio’s Greatest Westerns”. The libraries are currently working on an online listing of the donated books. This would allow patrons to access a list of the donated items by logging-on to the libraries’ website at www.library.ttu.edu and conducting a keyword search using ‘Bob and Karen Knight’.
