Government Documents Information for Distance Learners
When most people in the U.S. refer to "Government Documents," they are often referring to only those official documents published by the U.S. Government. However, the generic term "government documents" actually refers not only to U.S. Government Documents, but also to those of state and local governments, as well as those of foreign governments. Often, entities such as the United Nations and its associated bodies are intended, as well.
The U.S. Government, via the GPO (Government Printing Office), is the not just the largest publisher in the United States, but in the world. Many of these documents can be found in libraries around the country which participate in one of the two depository programs, or ordered directly from the GPO (http://www.gpo.gov/) at its online bookstore (http://bookstore.gpo.gov/). For those who cannot wait for an item to be delivered via the mail, select U.S. Government Documents are available via a service called GPO Access (http://www.gpoaccess.gov/index.html).
To search for government documents, after specifying your search terms, limit your search further by using "Location = Government Documents." To do this, from the TTU Libraries' online catalog main search page, select the drop-down list for "Location."

Then select "Government Documents" from the list of choices.

Finally, select "Go."
