Services and Facilities

Computing

There are several public PCs available on which you may search the online catalog and databases and browse the Internet. Additionally, you should know about these computer-related services:

  • Architectural Graphic Standards:
this is available on all but the two scanner station PCs but cannot be accessed remotely

  • Scanning:
Two scanning stations are available along the windows on 9th floor.

    • CD Burner:  all of the PCs have this capability.

    • USB drive: all of the PCs have a USB port.

  • GIS: There is Geographic Information System software available on each of the library's PCs. (For more on GIS, see GIS at TTU)

Library Instruction

Library staff are always available to explain how to use the library's resources to find the information patrons need. Staff are also available to give tours of the library and to do specialized instruction for individual classes. Instructors should call Bonnie Reed at 742-4035 to make arrangements for a session.

Reference Assistance

Patrons should not hesitate to ask library staff for assistance when they need help identifying sources, locating materials, or using any of the print and electronic library resources. Appointments may be made with librarians Bonnie Reed or Sandy River to discuss long-term projects or more in-depth research needs.

Reserve

Faculty should consider placing materials on reserve at the help desk when many students in a class will need to refer to those materials. Both library books and personal materials may be placed on reserve for a limited loan period: 2-hr. use in the library, overnight, and 3-day. Forms for placing materials on reserve are available at the help desk.
