Getting the most from CONTENTdm images.

When you work in CONTENTdm with image files, you may interested to know that you can manually edit the URL for an image so that you get a larger copy (up to the maximum size). Here is an example of how to do this.

Go to the following image in the Raimund McClain European Architecture Slides Collection

http://collections.lib.ttu.edu/cdm4/item_viewer.php?CISOROOT=/RMEAS&CISOPTR=519&CISOBOX=1&REC=1< /A>

This image is also shown below.

Click on the magnifying glass to change to 100%, as seen below.

You still don’t have the full image now showing, due to some settings that govern the overall CONTENTdm collections, even though the portion showing is magnified. But take a look at the URL:

where we have highlighted WIDTH and HEIGHT in bold. Manually edit these values in the URL to a larger size, changing the “600” pixels to “2000” for both width and height, as shown below:

Now press enter and notice the change in the display:

You now have a vertical scroll bar that you can move to see more of the image in a larger size. CONTENTdm works in this way to allow you to manually override the default collection limits for normal display in order to see a larger version of the image.
